In the technological scheme of the factory, the newest European equipment and the automated control systems were applied. The experts of the Masazyr Salt Fabric informed President Ilham Aliyev about how the salt is iodized via the industrial means in this enterprise. Following, President Ilham Aliyev and Abdolbari Goozal made a speech in front of the company staff.
The president of group of the companies «Azersun Holding» Abdolbari Goozal, having thanked on behalf of collective the head of the state for participation in enterprise opening, has told: Dear President, as you know, consumption of non-refined and non-iodized salt led to the increase of a number of diseases such as thyroid gland in Azerbaijan. Since the signing the law “Iodized salt with a view of mass preventive maintenance of diseases” by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on 27 December, 2001, the attention to this sphere has increased. During this period, UNICEF together with the Ministry of Health of the Azerbaijan Republic worked over the problem of the elimination of the lack of iodine by full iodized salts. However, to solve this question completely in Azerbaijan required building such kind of factories of salt refinement. This work has been carried out thanks to care and recommendation of your Excellency. Thus, in 2007, the Azerbaijan investment company concerning the Ministry of Economic Development, owner of 25 percent share and «Azersun Holding», owner of 75 percent share undertook building of the first factory of salt refinement in Azerbaijan. Abdolbari Goozal noted that it is possible annually to make 90 thousand tons of iodized salt of high standards at Masazyr Salt Factory. The new enterprise will allow Azerbaijan to turn from the importer to the exporter of salt. The first orders connected with the export are already received. Then the head of the state has addressed to the factory collective: Today in an economic life of Azerbaijan is, truly, a very significant event. It is possible to tell that today the base of a new industry is set in Azerbaijan. Since today, Azerbaijan will start to produce high-quality salt. Creation of this factory will pursue several purposes. First of all, a new modern industrial branch, one of the basic directions of our economic policy has been created in Azerbaijan. In this factory, the most advanced equipment has been established; technological process surpasses the world standards...
Simultaneously, the factory solves the question of opening of new workplaces, another direction of our policy. In all regions of Azerbaijan new workplaces are intensively created, citizens are provided with work … Furthermore, as it is already marked here, this salt is very important for the health of people. Citizens of Azerbaijan will already consume the iodized salt, which is the processed, cleared salt.
It is already a while that "Azersun Holding" carries out its activity in Azerbaijan. The activity of this company is quite broad. I am very pleased that company "Azersun Holding" makes a huge contribution to the creation of the local business. The contribution of this company towards the development of agriculture, business, non-oil sector is enormous. I hope that in the future this company will continue its activity in new branches as well…”
